NoteQuest Adventures Part 1
I was intrigued by an Actual Play of Notequest by a fellow on Substack, Clay TN.
So, I decided to give it a try for myself. My first foray into the lite rules dungeon delve went VERY well, as I rolled up a dragonkin chef with high HP and 3 uses of the fireball spell. I decided to start afresh for this journey and we’ll see how far we can go. This will be a very light in roleplaying actual play of the adventures of Littlefoot the halfling noble.

1st Dungeon
3d6 = 3,5,2 Sanctuary of the Flaming Curse
Littlefoot loved to wander. Being the next in line for the dukedom of Black Bear, he had plenty of free time to do whatever he wished. He packed up some provisions, torches, and his trusty rapier, and set forth!
It wasn’t long before he came upon a small abandoned chapel in the middle of nowhere. Faceless angels stood on each side of the entrance. Once inside, there was only a stone altar and a wooden trapdoor in the floor beneath the altar. Littlefoot opened the door and saw a dark staircase. He lit one of his torches and descended…
1d6 = 2 Corridor with 2 doors
He opened the door and saw a long corridor with 2 doors. One on the right and one at the end.
1d6 = 2 Locked
1d6 = 4 Unlocked
Littlefoot opens the door to the right and finds it unlocked. Inside there is…
1d6 = 3 Wide room with another door
Monsters 2d6 = Giant Spider 10HP 4 damage Paralyze
Content 2d6 = Torture room with 1d6 Treasures
Littlefoot gathers his bravery and reaches into the power of his nobility, casting Cold Ray on the spider.
4 damage and spider cannot attack
Seeing the arachnid is stunned, Littlefoot slashes with his rapier!
1d6+1 = 7 damage!
The spider is no match for a true warrior like Littlefoot. He straightens his embroidered coat, and wipes the ichor from his blade on the spider’s hairy belly.
1d6 treasures = 2
1st = 2 Health Potion (restores all HP)
2nd = 5 Roll in Wonders 2 = Armor of the Gods (ignore Deathtouch) Armor =1 Ring (0HP)
1d6 door= 6 Unlocked
Littlefoot proceeds through the torture chamber with his newfound magic ring, and opens the next unlocked door.
1d6= Medium sized room
Monsters 2d6 = 3 | 3 Fungoid 4HP 2D; Loot ; Regeneration
Content 2d6 = 10 | Melted candles everywhere may have secret passage
Littlefoot spies 3 mushroom shaped…men….loitering in a room full of melted candles. This appears to be a dead end, but he fells like there may be a secret hidden somewhere. So, he must deal with these fungi.
Rapier 1d6+1 = 5
Little foot immediately slices one of the mushroom men in half! The other two move forward and club him with their spore-ridden arms.
14-4 = 10 HP
Littlefoot lashes out once again with his deft rapier.
1d6+1 = 7
Again, one of the fungoids perish immediately, but the last one hits Littlefoot in the back before he can react.
10 – 2 = 8
Littlefoot spins on his heel, hoping to finish the last one just as quickly as the rest.
1d6+1 = 5
The humanoid mushroom falls to his attack without much ado. As their bodies fall apart, Littlefoot notices they had some treasures on them.
Loot Rolls: 6: 1 Treasure, 3: 1 Coin, 1: 1 Coin ; Treasure roll: 3 Magic Scroll Can be used once (Heal – heals 5 HP)
Littlefoot begins to fiddle with the candles to see if any of them will trigger a secret door.
Consume 1 torch: 1d6=2 Nothing
Disappointed, Littlefoot moves back through the rooms to the corridor, and opens the locked door.
Consume 1 torch: 3 Wide Room with another door
Inside the door is a wide room with another door at the other side. There appears to be no monsters within. But a corpse grasping a canvas bag lays in the corner of one room. Perhaps a previous adventurer?
Monsters: 7 No monsters
Contents: Corpse with 1 Treasure 1d6= 2: Health Potion
Littlefoot rummages through the bag and finds a health potion. Unfortunately for this fellow, he couldn’t drink it in time. He then tries the door and it is unlocked.
1d6 = Medium sized room. Since we have been VERY Unlucky with rooms with doors, this is apparently the last room, which means it is the BOSS ROOM.
Boss 1d6=3 Wrapped in mucus and pieces of living bodies is the terrible Aberration (29HP; 4d; Weakness)
Upon entering the room, Littlefoot sees a…thing. A mixture of fluids, flesh and body parts all moving in a conglomeration. Wishing he had his Cold Ray, he yells “For the Black Bear” and rushes into battle with the beast!
1d6+1 = 6, 23HP left
Aberration roll = 5 no weakness 8-4 = 4
Drink Health potion = 14 HP
1d6+1 = 7, 16 HP left
Aberration roll = 6 Weakness 14-8 = 6 HP YIKES!
Heal Scroll +5HP = 11 HP
Aberration Roll = 3 no weakness 11-4 = 7HP
1d6+1 = 5, 11 HP left
Aberration roll = 3 no weakness, 7-4= 3HP UH OH
Drink last Health Potion 14 HP
1d6+1= 6, 5 HP left
Aberration roll = 4 no weakness, 14-4=10 HP
1d6+1=6, 5-6 = VICTORY!
Littlefoot deftly dances around the aberration, stabbing into the mass at every opportunity. The thing hits him and saps some of his strength, but he quaffs one of the potions he found and is rejuvenated. After using up all of his magical healing properties and trading blows with the beast, he finally stands panting over it’s mangled corpse, victory at last.
2d6 boss treasures = 2! WHAT, I WAS ROBBED!
1st = 4 Valuable Jewel 2d6 x 10 = 70 c
2nd = Magic Scroll Fireball ( 5 damage to all monsters in room)
Littlefoot decides he has had enough adventure for the day and retires back to his parent’s palace in the city. He sells the gem he found for 70c, and decides to go out again another day.
-1 c for restoration of HP and spells
-3c for new torches.
68 c total from this quest.
This was a VERY small dungeon, but sometimes that’s how the dice roll. I’m worried that Littlefoot won’t live very long with only 14 HP, but we’ll send him on another adventure and hopefully you’ll join me for how that turns out!
Final Map - Awful, I know. Whatever, it’s really just for me ;)
